Memento Amori - Latin for Remember Love - pays homage to the Victorian tradition of mourning jewelry or memento mori, meaning remember death. In this new mini-collection we have created tokens of eternal love.
A mourning ring is a very old tradition in jewelry of creating a ring to commemorate the passing of a loved one. Rather than commemorating a death, our Memento Amori pieces commemorate a love between two people.
The phrase memento mori encompasses all mourning jewelry means, "remember death". Our Memento Amori collection is a play on words meaning, "remember love".
We were completely inspired by Victorian mourning jewelry which is the height of sentimental symbolism. We wanted to create pieces that are equally meaningful and symbolic.
While in the past skulls have symbolized the end of a life we are using skulls in this colllection to signify a love that is greater than our mortal being.
Our pieces are made in 14k gold with brilliant white diamonds in the eyes. Most pieces also contain a red garnet, a favorite Victorian gem and a symbol of trust and affection.
